Warming Up the Sky

Create a gorgeous, warm sky completely in-camera.

GEAR NEEDED:

  • Camera + Trigger
  • Lens of any focal length
  • Off-camera flash
  • Full CTB gel
  • Light stand
  • Light-softening modifier (optional)
  • Reflector (optional)

GOAL IMAGE

One of the current photography (or should I say editing) trends is to have a crazy warm image, void of blues and greens. It creates a dreamy feel, but when you look closely, or in comparison to true color, this technique makes the subject very orange. It’s a bit unnatural and reminds me of my fellow New Jersians’ extreme fake tanning habits. I’m going to show you how to create a similar warm-world feel without affecting skin tones.
