It is exactly a hundred years since a pioneering Scottish town planner, Patrick Geddes advanced the concept of globalisation. Best remembered for his work in planning cities, Geddes’ thinking was rooted in the philosophy of Place–Work–Folk (McFadyen 2013). He was the author of the phrase ‘think global, act local’.
