The IBM SAN file system (SAN FS) helps customers to consolidate their disk
storage, not just on a hardware level, but also on file system level. A growing
percentage of companies have consolidated storage into Fibre Channel (FC)
SANs, but they still have to manage the same number of LUNs. The LUNs are
still associated with individual application servers, and storage on the FC storage
frame is still logically segregated. With the IBM TotalStorage SAN file system, it
is possible to consolidate the file systems of many heterogeneous open systems
servers into a single shared parallel file system.
