It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Configuration notes
The Fibre Channel SAN connections between the SAN Volume Controller
and the switches are optical fibre running at 2 Gbps. However, the SAN
Volume Controller is also supported in 1 Gbps Fibre Channel fabrics.
To provide high availability, the SAN Volume Controller nodes should be
configured in redundant SAN fabrics.
