It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

4.4.1 Device Manager
The Device Manager is responsible for the discovery of supported devices,
collecting asset, configuration, and availability data from the supported devices,
and providing a limited topography view of the storage usage relationships
between those devices.
The Device Manager builds on the IBM Director discovery infrastructure.
Discovery of storage devices adheres to the SNIA SMI-S specification standards.
Device Manager uses the Service Level Protocol (SLP) to discover supported
