Summary

In a nutshell, all the computers on a LAN see all the network traffic regardless of who the intended receiver is. The computers just ignore all the stuff that’s not intended for them.

In a wireless network, the same protocols or communication rules are used, the packets are just “stuffed” into a wireless carrier and then “unpacked” on the receiver end, and everything works the same way it does in a wired network. The big difference here is that any wireless computer in the range of the wireless signals can “see” the traffic even if it is not part of the LAN. This makes wireless very convenient, but it also makes the need for security very, very important.
