Enabling security on your wireless network is critical even if you have a firewall, because a firewall protects you against some threats but does little to protect against wireless access threats. Broadcasting your SSID and leaving the encryption feature disabled is, at best, an invitation to give your neighbors free Internet access and, at worst, an easy path to losing your identity. Encryption is an absolute must on any wireless network. As we demonstrate in Chapter 9, it takes no more than five minutes to set up good wireless security, which could save you years of aggravation trying to get your credit history repaired.
