Each computer or device that you want to join your wireless network needs a wireless network interface card (NIC). A wireless NIC provides a number of functions, including
• Enabling a computer (or device) to connect to your home network through a wireless signal
• Securing the communications path between the wireless router and your computers and devices connected over wireless
• Providing a way for you to connect your computer to other wireless networks outside your home
