Chapter 10. Troubleshooting: I Can’t Connect at All

Usually, wireless networks are pretty easy to set up and connect to, but, as we said earlier, due to the fast-moving nature of the technology, sometimes the network does not work as it is supposed to. In this chapter we will cover what to do if you cannot get a computer or laptop to connect over the wireless connection to the wireless router. Start here if you cannot get the computer and router to connect at all. If you can connect sometimes but not others, skip to the next chapter.

Before jumping into troubleshooting, let’s first take a look at what happens during the steps when your wireless NIC connects to your wireless router and at what can go wrong during that process.
