Learning analytics

Introduction

Learning and development strategy and policy should be evidence-based. This means that decision-making is founded on reliable information about what is happening and what is likely to happen to people and L&D in the organization. Providing this data and using it to guide decisions is the function of learning analytics. As the CIPD (2017: 32) commented: ‘People professionals will need to have the competency and desire to explore different sources of information to inform their decisions, and to help evidence decisions for key stakeholders.’
