To solve the problems connected with achieving suf cient encapsulation
ef ciency and carrier stability, some supplementary procedures have been
created which follow nanocarrier fabrication.
Liposomes, for example, can be stabilized by modifying their surface with
short PEG chains. Such vesicles are known as ‘stealth’ liposomes, as this
modi cation not only stabilizes the nanocarrier, but also ‘hides’ it from the
immunological system of the human body. As a result, their circulation life-
times are much longer. Another solution also applied by our group is to coat
liposomes with ultrathin mono- or multilayer polymeric  lms. This stabilizes
