will lead to different surface quality and will therefore in uence the corro-
sion behaviour (Feyerabend et al ., 2012). This makes comparisons between
different studies quite dif cult unless the whole parameter set is published.
However, even polishing routines and the resulting quality can differ widely
between different labs. The only solution to this problem would be the pro-
duction of a standard material by a dedicated company, where all parameters
are recorded and documented by a quality management system, complete
