newly formed bone. Micro-CT can subsequently be combined with histo-
morphometric analysis of Masson trichrome-stained tissue sections of the
same samples for quanti cation of bone formation parameters, as elegantly
shown in Farr é -Guasch et al . (2012). Histology can also be applied to iden-
tify the transplanted cells labeled for cell tracking.
