QoS can be a complex beast to understand and implement when you are first learning about it. Many different mechanisms allow you to manipulate how traffic will flow. This chapter covers the whole implementation process of QoS. You learn why QoS is needed and how it can help fix problems such as:
Low bandwidth
Delay (or variation of delay called jitter)
Packet loss
After I discuss the problems, I show you the process of implementing QoS. You need to understand what to look for and how to break up traffic so that you can actually fix the problems. The tasks to accomplish these repairs are:
Identify the traffic
Classify the traffic
Mark the traffic
Create a policy
Many different functions and features are used to accomplish each ...
