Now that you have the basic fundamentals of wireless down, you have to dive into the devices that make it possible. Wireless client devices can connect directly together and talk—just as if you connected two devices together with a crossover cable. To make your wireless network more scalable and secure, though, you need to add APs. APs serve much the same purpose as switches and hubs for wired networks; they allow you to connect multiple wireless devices to the network.
