20.3. Wireless QoS
QoS in a wireless network has the same goals as in a wired network. When you place real-time traffic on wireless network, it still has the same requirements of bandwidth, delay, and packet loss as it does on the rest of the network. QoS gives you a way to provide a specific level of service to traffic that is classified as high priority. If you need a more detailed review of QoS for wired networks go back and look at Chapter 18, "DiffServ Quality of Service (QoS)."
With a little review of wired QoS and given that there is a need to have QoS in the wireless part of the network, you should be asking, "Does QoS have to be implemented differently for wireless traffic?" The answer is, "Yes." But why does it have to be different? ...
