Another non-assertive style is passive communication. People communicating passively avoid confrontation and conflict at all cost. With passiveness there is a lack of respect of the self: The passive person doesn’t have enough selfconfidence to make his thoughts and feelings known. Passive communicators go along with others and comply with requests, without making requests of their own. Rather than figuring out what other people want or need and how to communicate about those wants and needs, the passive person remains silent and retreats.
