AUDIENCE FOR THIS BOOK
Essentially anyone involved in web site development can benefit from Designing Web Navigation, including managers and other non-designers. Specifically, this book is intended for people new to the field of web design and students who want to learn more about the topic. I hope that experts may get a fresh look at the perennial problem of web navigation as well.
Although this book covers the basics of web navigation, I make a few assumptions about your prior knowledge. It's taken for granted that you are familiar with the Web and how it works in general. You may have even already been involved in web development projects in some way. If you're not yet comfortable with the terminology of web design, you might consider reading Learning Web Design (3rd Ed.) by Jennifer Robbins (O'Reilly, 2007) first.
