The Static Product Backlog
We often see product owners doing everything possible to create the illusion of control and predictability on a project. They create detailed plans and try to fill each and every sprint with PBIs in advance. The PO then creates a Gantt chart to track progress. The product backlog may change ever so slightly so long as the team doesn’t deviate too far from the original plan. Incorporating user input is exhausting for the Scrum team and often discouraged by the product owner because the plan has no room for change.
