So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Patterns
If we define an integration between two systems as having distinct steps, we can then define patterns in each step. Let's take a look at the following diagram to discuss an integration pipeline:
This pipeline is simplified as there could be more or fewer steps in a pipeline depending on the technology used. The purpose of the diagram is to provide some context as we look at some common integration patterns. These can be broken into categories as follows:
- Messaging: Patterns related to the handling of messages
- Transformation: Patterns related to altering message content
- Routing: Patterns related to the exchange of messages
