Because you may be creating documents for different purposes, and because your artwork may be coming from a variety of sources, InDesign allows you to import 14 different graphic file formats. Except for a couple of little-used formats (like PhotoCD), anything QuarkXPress can import, InDesign can, too. However, InDesign lets you import two file formats that XPress does not: native Photoshop (.PSD) and Illustrator (.AI) files.
