Tables have been used as a visual way to communicate structured information for hundreds of years. While commands for creating and editing tables have long been available in word processing software and applications which work with structured documents like Adobe FrameMaker, QuarkXPress and InDesign have added table support only relatively recently. Table creation and editing is now available in QuarkXPress 5 and InDesign 2, but InDesign has far more table features than XPress.
