On standalone and workgroup computers, you can control many aspects of how the computer can be used and enforce certain policies on the users who log onto the computer. To do this, you can use the Group Policy editor to create a Group Policy object for your local computer, which is used to assign policies and restrictions to certain groups of users. (If your computer is part of a domain, a domain policy object may override some of the settings you make in your local group policy object). You also can enforce security issues using the Local Security Policy applet found in the Administrative Tools section of the Control Panel.
