Quick Settings
The Status Bar does one more thing for you: It launches the Quick Settings screen, which lets you fiddle with the NOOK’s most important settings. Tap the right-hand side of the Status Bar, and the Quick Settings screen launches. The screen has five options, as described in this section.

Quick Settings also shows you the current date, at the top of the screen.
To make the Quick Settings screen go away, tap anywhere outside it. And if you want to change even more settings—literally every single one on your NOOK—tap the little gear icon on the upper-right of the Quick Settings screen.
Battery
This shows how much battery life you’ve got left. If the NOOK is charging, you’ll see the word “Charging” beneath it, and if the NOOK isn’t plugged in you’ll see the word “discharging.”
WiFi
The toggle switch tells you if WiFi is turned on or off. Tap the switch to turn if on if it’s not turned on, and off if it’s already turned on. The toggle shows green when it’s turned on. If you’re connected to a WiFi network, its name appears here as well.
Mute
Check the box here to mute all sounds except for music and video and other audible media.
Auto-rotate screen
