A bit of extrapolation of the cases derived in the last chapter shows that there is a more complete and general solution to the subject of op amp gain and offset circuits. In particular, the cases with no offset are identical to the inverting and noninverting gain circuits derived earlier. Cases with m < 1 are problematic, because op amps may become unstable at less than unity gain, so any complete solution must include attenuation cases. It also became apparent that cases with m = 0 and b > 0 are voltage references and regulators. When m and b are both zero, you have ground! So, additional cases are developed to fill out a gain and offset matrix, and solutions are outlined to cover these additional cases.
