In the simultaneous equation solutions discussed in early chapters, when there is no “m” (gain), only offset, the op amp has become a voltage reference or voltage regulator. They differ only in power output capability and contain internal references and internal power boosters. Inside, they depend on very simple op amp topologies, and some op amp analysis can yield insights into how they operate. Even switching power supply regulators have op amps inside and depend on op amp feedback circuits to operate.
