Setting Up Mac and iOS Clients for Calendar Service
The Server app doesn’t have a place to create an actual calendar. Instead, you create a calendar from a Mac or an iOS client and then publish it to a server. Before you can publish a calendar, however, the client must be configured to have an account with Calendar Server.
Adding a Calendar Server account to Mac clients
You can add a Calendar Server account to a Mac client in two ways:
From System Preferences: This method works with OS X 10.7 and 10.8 clients.
From Contacts (or iCal in Mac OS X 10.7 and earlier) Preferences: Use this option if you want to create an account for Calendar Server but don’t want to alter your Calendar (iCal) or Mail settings. This method is for Mac OS X 10.6 clients.
These two methods are described in the next two sections. You can also use Profile Manager to configure multiple Mac and iOS devices at one time (as described in Chapter 16).
Use System Preferences
In this section, you add a Calendar Server account to a Mac client by using System Preferences. This procedure works for Lion and Mountain Lion clients, and will also add server accounts to the Contacts and Mail applications:
