Specifying an Alternate Template as a Backup
One thing you might want to do is check for the existence of a template, such as a style template. Then, if the style template that you want is not available, you can use a backup style for your ODS job. To simply find out whether your choice of style template exists, you can use a dictionary table or a SASHELP view. A more complicated approach might involve using the EXIST and OPEN functions in a macro program to determine whether your item store exists and/or issuing an ODS PATH statement. However, we want to focus on just testing the existence of a style template and issuing a backup template name.
