7.6. State–Space Representation of DC–DC Converters

State–space representation is a common tool for modeling the dynamics of PWM switching converters. The state–space model representation of an electrical circuit is a mathematical model that provides information about the dynamic behavior of the circuit with respect to a minimum number of equations which are called state variables. Fig. 7.25 presents the block diagram of the state–space model of an electric circuit where:
u1,u2,⋯up are the inputs of the circuit; y1,y2,⋯ym are the outputs of the circuit; x1,x2,⋯xn are the state variables; and A, B, C, D, E are state matrices which depend on the topology of the system and on the characteristics of its components.
