So far, we've discussed somewhat static ways to manage the inbound and outbound traffic flow through multiple ISP connections. The principle behind intelligent routing is to measure the network's performance periodically and then to attempt to adjust the inbound and outbound traffic flows through your connections to service providers to provide optimal connectivity and/or the most accurate load sharing possible. We'll use Figure 2.24 to illustrate some principles of intelligent routing.
