It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Security has become, in recent years, a very large concern within networks; it's increasingly difficult to consider any change to a protocol, or any change to a network, without also considering the implications on the security of the network. BGP, as the protocol that “runs the Internet backbone,” is a major focus of the efforts that have been made towards producing a secure routing protocol.

We'll begin by considering the protection of BGP peering sessions at the edge of the network, and then we'll discuss other security issues at the edge of the autonomous system.
