In the previous chapter we discussed using BGP to build or redesign a core for an enterprise network; this chapter builds on this by discussing the implementation of iBGP in a network core. Thus, we will be looking more in depth at the actual deployment of iBGP within the core of any network, enterprise, or service provider. We begin with a discussion of full mesh in iBGP and why it's necessary. Then we discuss the use of Route Reflectors and Confederations within an iBGP core to relax the requirement for a full iBGP mesh.
