Junk email, also known as spam, can be annoying. Email addresses are often "harvested" from the Internet by companies for inexpensive advertising. If you have an email address, chances are that at some time it will end up on someone's spam list. Spam is not usually dangerous, but can quickly fill your email inbox and result in your spending extra time trying to sort out bulk mail from your private messages.
