Using the Lynx Browser
The Lynx Web browser, hosted at the University of Kansas, is a text-only browser. This program does not load Web page graphics, play sounds, or use any of the plug-in features of today's modern Web browsers. However, Lynx is fast and efficient and does not take up much disk space (around 500KB versus up to 46MB for Netscape).
You don't need to use X11 to browse the Web; use Lynx from the command line:
# Lynx http://www.mcp.com
The Lynx browser connects to Macmillan USA's Web page and shows it on your display or in a terminal window, as shown in Figure 19.1.
