Using Netscape to Download Files

Netscape Communicator not only interactively browses the Web, but can be directed to retrieve files from remote computers through the command line of a terminal window.

Netscape Navigator, a component of the Netscape Communicator distribution for Linux, recognizes a uniform resource locator (URL) specification of the FTP protocol (ftp://). This is handy for quickly downloading known files from familiar places on the Internet.
