It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Managing network connections with Linux is straightforward, thanks to the user-friendly configuration tool linuxconf. This tool provides for the enabling and configuring of network connections in a graphical interface. If you do not have linuxconf on your system, I recommend that you install it as soon as possible. Currently, linuxconf supports Red Hat, Debian, SuSE, Caldera, and Slackware distributions. This is the most universal configuration tool available.
