Along with the tools that are already built into the IIS Manager, there is also the ability to create your own tools and extend the capabilities of the manager. This feature, known as IIS Manager extensibility, allows third-party vendors, developers, or systems administrators to create their own custom tools to work with IIS 8.0.
The Microsoft.Web.Management.dll makes extensibility possible by providing access to the entire IIS subsystem. We go into more detail about IIS Manager extensibility and give examples and code in Chapter 12, “Core Server Extensibility.”
