When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
CGI Configuration
Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is a standard protocol that provides for communication between an application and a web browser. CGI was invented in 1993, and every version of IIS has supported it. The problem with CGI running on IIS is in the way it handles requests. With each new request for a CGI application, IIS has to create a new process, do the work, and then shut down the process. IIS can handle requests very quickly; however, the overhead of starting and stopping processes can become a bottleneck when running CGI on IIS. This is where FastCGI steps in. The creation of FastCGI resolves part of the bottleneck of using CGI on IIS. The next section provides more details about FastCGI.
