It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

By now, you must have heard that you can write Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures in any language that uses the common language runtime (CLR), such as Microsoft Visual C# or Microsoft Visual Basic .NET. This is great news if you’ve never mastered Transact-SQL (T-SQL), right? We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but CLR stored procedures are not a cure-all for your SQL Server programming challenges.
