When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Wherefore BI?
To be frank, an organization that merely collects and manages its data, and perhaps reviews that data regularly through basic and ad hoc reports, is losing out almost completely on the strategic value and the information that the data holds. Moreover, taking advantage of the basic features of Analysis Services isn’t that hard, and the concepts aren’t all that difficult for relational database experts to grasp.
If you look carefully at the entire suite of features and components in SQL Server 2005 and 2008 as compared with SQL Server 2000, you’ll find that the biggest advances have come from the BI side. Don’t get us wrong: relational database features such as the Service Broker, native XML support, and the SQL Common Language Runtime ...
