It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What We’ll Cover in This Chapter
Covering all of the Analysis Services OLAP features would require an entire book. We believe strongly that all database developers should be well acquainted with a subset of those features, however, and at least be aware of the others. So in this chapter, we will extend our Northwind cube to take advantage of many of these features.
Specifically, we will extend our cube to use a parent/child dimension, fact dimensions, role-playing dimensions, advanced property settings for measures and dimensions (including attribute relationships), member grouping (discretization), display folders, calculated members, a named set, actions, a key performance indicator (KPI), a perspective, and a translation, and we’ll also look ...
