It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

You have many decisions to make when building your occasionally connected system. Choosing between Merge Replication and Sync Services for ADO.NET is only the beginning. Merge Replication is the database administrator’s tool, providing quick setup and configuration with its myriad wizards and dialog boxes but limited choices in terms of platform and topology.
