Protecting Your Images
Protecting your images from unauthorized use is an important aspect of reinforcing the value of your images. Scarcity has a major influence on the value of any commodity. While limiting the number of prints for an image doesn't guarantee it's worth anything (it has to be a good image in the first place), controlling how your images get used can help ensure whatever value it has is retained. Furthermore, each time one of your images is used without permission, you lose potential income from that use. This may be in the form of a print hung on the wall, an image used in an advertisement, or unauthorized Web site use (Figure 14.7).
