reported in a 27-m long erbium-doped PANDA-type PM fiber. The fiber trans-
mitted only one polarization mode in the emission wavelength of 1.535 mm while
supporting two polarization modes at the pump wavelength of 1.485 mm [162].
A high-power PM amplifier was demonstrated using an Yb-doped bowtie fiber.
Backward-pumped by a high-power 974-nm diode bar, a 9.5-m long fiber had an
amplified seed signal at a wavelength of 1050 nm with approximately 40 dB
small-signal gain. The saturated output power of 2.3 W and extinction ratio of
17 dB was demonstrated at pump power of 5.7 W [163].
