defined as a subset of genes that are correlated under a subset of samples.
Biclustering has been used in several a pplications such as clustering microarray
data [293], identifying protein interactions [280], co llaborative filtering [170],
and text mining [76].
To illustrate the concept of biclustering, a simple example is shown in Fig-
ure 18.31. In this figure, the expression levels of thre e genes across 10 samples
are shown. Considering all of the sa mples, it is difficult to observe any corre-
