It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Many properties managers and craftspeople use rat traps as quick and reliable methods in rigging stage tricks. The application described here will create the illusion of a gunshot shattering a plate resting on a shelf.

The trick is achieved by first cutting approximately 1″ from the end of a rat trap and removing all hardware except for the springloaded “guillotine.” Next, a 1½” hex head bold “firing pin” is brazed to the guillotine.
