A Recycled-Bike Rig for a “Zinging” Puppet |
Sometimes, achieving the effects of animated cartoons in live theater is difficult — and then sometimes it’s not. Take, for instance, a director’s desire to see a puppet “zing” out over the audiences’ heads (like Wile E. Coyote so often does) after a character explodes onstage. With some ingenuity and a handful of scavenged hardware, Jim Kempf arranged just such an effect for the Yale Repertory Theatre production of Le Bourgeois Avant Garde.
