So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Voice application usage is one of the key roles of a dial plan. Voice mail was the most
widely used application at Cisco, and the interplay of creating and forwarding messages
based on the directory number was of primary importance.
“We made retention of existing four- or five-digit local dialing for phone-to-phone dialing
within a site a priority,” says Steven Hunter, IT engineer. Hunter cautioned that the design
of the local dial plan should always accommodate this requirement through well thought-
out use of translation patterns, dialing domains, and the # end-of-dial character.
