13.7A. Concentration Gradients in Membranes
1. Dense-phase membrane
In gas separation using a dense-phase symmetrical polymer membrane, the solute diffuses through the high-pressure-side gas film to the membrane surface. Then it dissolves in the membrane. At the interface equilibrium occurs. The solute then diffuses through the solid membrane, and finally diffuses through the gas film.
