Well, in short it is the world as the World Wide Web (WWW) is the most popular and widely used Internet based application. But there can be other uses as well like E-Mail, FTP, Bulletin boards, hyper text documents, etc.
The focus of the book will be the WWW, although other applications will be covered to the extent that is required to understand the context.
